PREBLAST – MEMORIAL DAY IS COMING! SAVE THE DATE

What does Memorial Day mean to you?  Some think of a 3 day weekend, or hanging out w/ family and friends, good BBQ, beverages, corn hole, you name it.  Others take a step back and let the reality of what this day truly means resonate – there are over 1 million military members dating back to the Civil war that have lost their lives defending this great nation we call home.  That is 1 million…

Weight stations and 90s Movie Trivia

We had 11 at the Deep including Chardonnay, Dovetail, Tweety, Crosshair, Peg, Ringo, Kick Flip, Royale, Silent Bob, Nemo, and myself (Captain Jack). Last week Quasi played 70s/80s rock and someone brought up the movie Entrapment (related to dive bombers).  My best high school job was working at a movie theater in the 90s (when Entrapment was released).  Thus, led to this 90s movie trivia Q.  I also borrowed some weight timing from a recent…

Tora, Tora, Tora, at the ‘Ball!

YHC is likely the only guy in the region that was raised by the WW II generation (expect a lot of the pax’s grandads were) so this was a very special day. I grew up listening to these guys tell about it (mostly pretty funny stories) and had an uncle that was the REAL DEAL when it came to war heros in my uncle Roy Fortner who led the 15th Air Force Mission over Berlin…

An Army of 2

So YHC was on deck for Crow’s Nest the day after the famous Lake Wylie Christmas Party, which he did not attend. But apparently a lot of others did so and to great enjoyment! Which is why we only had YHC and Speed Racer in the mix for boot camp and a couple of runners. So YHC fell back on some tried and true things that have worked before. Went like this: COP: SSH X…

Waving the Black Flag at BRR Recovery

8 PAX came out for a recovery workout at the Black Flag.  YHC took the Q months ago, knowing that BRR bodies would be beaten and bruised and if I had to post the flag, I wanted control of the recovery.  Peg, a fellow BRR runner, also posted knowing what we endured over the last few days. As more and more showed up that were not BRR runners, my mind quickly turned to how can…

Curls for the Girls at The Brig

2 runners and 7 bootcampers dodged the rain at The Brig.  After completing IronPax Week 0 in the AM, Merkins were off limits.  Instead we took a short mosey to my driveway and completed a weighted circuit focused on pumping up our beach body muscles.  Our poor biceps are often neglected in bodyweight workouts so I thought we would do something that would appeal to the likes of Captain Jack, Dovetail and Ringo. 1/2 mile…
