It was a rainy and ominous start to our evening at The Brig as YHC and the PAX debated the weather and to proceed as planned or modify to a drier, more covered location. The PAX decided to proceed as planned in the rain and somewhat suspect sounding skies. A disclaimer was given and onto COP we went.

COP consisted of SSH, Moroccan Nightclubs, Low Slow Squat, Peter Parker, and Parker Peter. YHC did not want to delay the main event of the evening.

Conveniently we were located in our starting area for said main event so a description of the first evolution was given.

The Thang

2 rounds of Paula Abdul in front parking lot. PAX would move two parking spaces forward, perform 1 rep of an exercise then move back one parking space and perform 1 rep of the same exercise. Continue to the end of the parking spaces. It broke down as follows:

Bear Crawl 2 spaces, 1 merkin, Crawl Bear 1 space, 1 merkin

Lunge walk 2 spaces, 1 squat, Reverse Lunge Walk 1 space, 1 squat

This routine is a lot like life. We take two steps forward and then something pushes us back. We move forward again and get pushed back again. I shared a quote from the Rocky Balboa movie, “it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done!”

From there it was time to mosey to location two. As we started up Elderberry Ln, I reminded PAX that the climb up the hill is a Strava segment and the option to give it AYG for the segment was floated out. At the top of the hill lies a small circular grassy area for the PAX to take on one more Paula Abdul using the trees around the “park” as the markers

Run forward 2 trees, 1 burpee, Nur 1 tree, 1 burpee. Continuing all the way around the “park”

The second part of the theme and message came next. There comes a point in life where you think you’ve finally got it figured out, there is nothing that can set you back again. Then, out of nowhere life drops a B.O.M.B on your plans. You guessed it readers, the next and final evolution was B.O.M.B.S. PAX partnered up to complete the following exercises:

Burpee x 50

Overheard Clap x 100

Merkins x 150

Big Boy Situp x 200

Squat x 250

The PAX gave it their all and all the partners made it through the Big Boys before it was time to mosey back for COT. We arrived a couple minutes early so we finished off with some squats and a plank.

Prayers for:

  • Grainger of F3 Shelby after being struck by lightning on Monday. Something Whiskey conveniently didn’t mention before we started.
  • Injured PAX of F3 and FiA
  • Our educators, administrators, and staff
  • Those battling COVID

Thanks Softshell for the opportunity to lead these men. Until next time, Wild Thing out!
