Thanksgiving brings many thoughts each and every year.  It’s a time to look at your life and consider how lucky we really are, and give thanks to everything we’ve been blessed with.  It’s a time that generally kicks off the Christmas season.  It’s a time for families to get together and share a full day of delicious food and fellowship together.  And it’s a time to wake up at the crack of dawn, go meet up w/ your buddies and start he day right w/ some backyard football baby!

For those interested, we’ll have the Turkey Bowl set to be played at the Oak Ridge Elementary football field (we’ll split it in half).  We won’t be as overly organized as last year and hold a draft in advance – just show up, we’ll elect captains, pick teams and get moving.  Similar to last year, asking that participants are of High School age and up.

Game details –

  1. I’d like to keep it at 5 guys per team if possible, to ensure plenty of action for all who come out.  We had two games going simultaneously last year, so the hope is we do the same with the winners playing in the Kraken Bowl for top honors.  All teams last year had 6-7 players per to allow for some breaks throughout.
  2. 30 min halves, non stop.  Kraken bowl (championship) will be two 15 min halves.
  3. 4 downs to get to midfield for first down.  If you elect to punt, the other team will get the ball on the ’20’ on the opposite side of the field
  4. Music – 80’s mellow gold…just playing, it’ll be solid
  5. Food – I’ll get coffee / donuts and bring some bloody making materials for those that want to partake afterwards
  6. Punishment – this is a 2nd F event w/ some 1st F sprinkled in, so losing teams will do 20 kraken burpees per player.  Your welcome.
  7. Warm-up – there will be a warm-up in advance to not encourage hamstring tears.  Get there early to run around, throw some passes, and reteach yourself how to run a post route

Start spreading the word now in CoT.  While others may be training for ruck events or long trail runs, I’d suggest many of you begin working on your lateral movement, route running and hand eye flag coordination.  Bragging rights last a year, so don’t be that guy who had 12 drops.  See you soon.

GO BILLS.
